'Generative Cities: Under the Waves Project' is the programmed imagination of our world swept away by the powerful force of nature. It is motivated by human curiosity for the unknown, whether it is about the unpredictable future or the uninhabited latent space of the visual representations learned.
The artificial neural network was trained on two collections representing different visual domains and was then allowed to create the non-existent connections between nocturnal urban landscapes and free ocean tides, allowing the machine to imagine the transformation by itself, enriched by the powerful movement and the change of concept.
The work inspires us to reflect on the limits of the human race in the face of such powerful but opposing forces as artificial intelligence and nature itself. It also sparks a conversation about the impending apocalypse of the environmental crisis.
