My Garden is a personal series I began one year ago with the intention of connecting with both my garden and myself, as an exercise in exploring my immediate surroundings. By setting the boundaries of using only what I find in the garden at that specific time of year, the process becomes unique, shaped by the continuous transformation of the vegetation with the changing seasons and the natural development of the environment.
Initially, I felt frustrated by the limited options available. The garden seemed dormant, conserving its energy for better weather. However, this challenge became a deeply rewarding experience as I learned that finding beauty sometimes requires patience. What I eventually discovered weren’t bold colors or striking shapes, but rather more subtle elements: the gentle sway of a branch, the layered textures of a log and lichen, and the power of composition to transform the ordinary into something special. This season taught me the value of deep focus, seeing from new perspectives, and stepping outside of my comfort zone; you can’t use anything you imagine (and buy it), you just have what you have.
Moreover, the holly tree, was the most vibrant and eye catching species in the garden. It wasn´t easy to create a composition that felt timeless and didn´t scream Christmasy, mostly because it was around that time of the year.
