Christmas, the most enchanted time of the year, even though it can be solitary, or conflictual… For artists as well, the end of the year raises ambivalent feelings. Theoretically, it’s associated to precise visual elements : pine trees, the colors red and green, twinkling lights, decorations, stars and garlands ; and we indeed find those in works that warm our hearts, taking us back to this childlike wonder which, perhaps, never actually leaves us. But it’s also the occasion to talk about - maybe even point out ? - some social habits we’ve build around Christmas : winter sports, culinary musts, and the giving and receiving of gifts, wrapped up as they should be.
