Ultra-Violet is one of the images that I consider to be one of my top 5 photographs. It is also one of the most significant images to me because of the story behind it.
It was a rainy evening as I was exploring the streets of Sinseoldong in Seoul, South Korea. I was walking along the alleyways when suddenly in front of me a school girl appeared. She was wearing a yellow dress that looked like something from out of the 1950s, as well as using a yellow umbrella. She was also carrying a huge teddy bear and the entire scene appeared to be something from out of a movie. Usually, I never hesitate to take photo, but this time I was admiring the scene that had unfolded before me. Before I knew it, she had already passed me by, and I realized that I had missed what was probably the best image of my lifetime. I turned around and immediately took the photograph.
It saddened me a little that you cannot see the big bear or the cute dressed school girl, but if you look carefully you can make-out the big bear she was carrying. Even though I missed the first shot, actually the photograph itself came out amazingly well. I love the way the colors compliment each other perfectly, violet and yellow are complimentary colors. The rain and the signs perfectly light the image.
