This work is part of Nour Hage's Pillow Fort series, a series of artworks exploring her own mental health. Nour created three digital artworks in self-isolation in late 2021. These self-portraits are a continuation of her digital textile art practice where she bring fabrics and textiles from her studio and everyday life into her digital practice. These works are digital collages constructed from manipulated photographs of the fabrics of pillows she was sleeping on and piling around her for comfort during her self-isolation.
Throughout her work, she introduces elements of supernatural and superstitious protection in the form of traditional materials, colours or techniques from the Levant that have been historically used for that purpose.
