In this work, Vincent Viriot explores the meeting points of humanity, technology, authenticity and aspiration. The artist demonstrates his mastery of 3D animation and graphic design by combining the 3D modelling of a bust with elements of graphic text. In both the title of the work and the word 'MACHINE' written in to the piece, the tension between automation in technology and the fragility of human nature becomes clear. M S T K, the word 'mistake' without the vowels, refers to the very human nature of failing, or feeling like a failure. This combined with the concept of a machine as technically infallible, puts into question the relationship between humankind and technology.
