"Keeping My Peace" came to the artist’s mind during the chaos of everyday life in London. The piece features a statuesque, shiny bronze figure, from whose skull a golden head emerges. With an elegant, classical gesture, the figure places its index finger to its lips, demanding silence. As the finger and the golden head gradually sink back into the form, the work symbolizes a deliberate act of blocking out the surrounding noise. Avarello’s intention with this sculpture, which was exhibited at Superchief Gallery in New York, is to embody the power of maintaining inner peace amidst external chaos, illustrating the quiet strength found in remaining stoically centered and untouched by the turmoil around us.
