Fabric of Sustenance is an interactive installation that requires a Microsoft Kinect.
"While the world stopped for almost a whole year because of COVID-19, we realized that we had to be kind to our planet. We recklessly used his resources without giving him time to rebuild. We have also polluted it with our human waste, of which one of the biggest contributors is clothing. The fast fashion industry is notoriously known for the pace and volume with which it pollutes our planet. The purpose of this facility is to remind people that we have only one planet (at least for now) and that we need to take care of it by reducing our carbon footprint through the use of sustainable clothing. The visuals of the installation are a replica of what a fabric looks like up close. When the person is within reach of the Kinect, an invisible ball appears on the screen and stretches the fabric, conveying the idea of using durable clothing to preserve the world as it is and to improve it afterwards.
