Here is Hengifoss, one of the largest waterfalls in Iceland. It is not so much its 118 meters in height that is impressive but its powerful aesthetic, a masterful work of an ever more creative nature. The black basalt comes from successive volcanic eruptions dating from 5 to 6 million years ago and between each of them, life get back its rights and is deposited a thin layer of clay, then the iron it contains oxidizes and colors it in a surprising bright red.
