VELVET KAORU

Velvet Kaoru is a Japanese digital artist based in Osaka. Seeking to understand the relationship between organic human nature and mechanical nature, Velvet expresses herself through computer programming. 

Inspired by the world around her and everything to do with computers, Velvet uses TouchDesigner to create installations, videos and interactive works. Through her work, the artist hopes to bring together the apparent opposites of order and chaos. His unique worldview and his singular artistic universe convey an indescribable life force.  

Kaoru Tanaka has already been exhibited at NEORT, “Neo Visual Art Collection”, a media art and visual art exhibition in Tokyo (2018), and at the Fukuoka Art Museum: Asia Digital Art Award (2016, 2017).

MELTING PETALS, 2019

Melting Petals is a so-called “generative work” since it was generated from a computer code, itself created by the artist using TouchDesigner software. 

Through its algorithm, Velvet offers us an aesthetic representation of a feeling that inhabits us when we are crossed by contradictory emotions: the torn. Feelings clash and converge in this unique composition that appeals to our own sensations.
